There's no doubt social media has both positive and negative impacts on us as individuals and society as a whole. On one hand, it keeps us all connected more than ever before - to our friends, family, brands, strangers, news, politics, etc. It enables us to communicate quickly and effectively with people and things we never could have before. On the other hand, it's consuming. It's addicting. It ironically disconnects us from society while simultaneously connecting us. Social media apps like Instagram also allow users to depict their life in a certain life - a romanticized highlight reel that realistically is vastly different from real life.
